Boathouse Row along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA
Most of the rowing clubs and college rowing teams in the area
are located along this quarter-mile stretch of the
Schuylkill River, and during the warm months of the year,
the crews can be seen practicing on the river. At nightfall,
the buildings are outlined in lights, creating one of the
best-known sights in Philadelphia.

The Schuylkill River in Philadelphia is the location where
numerous boaters go to practice their sport. Some are crews
rowing together, and others are individuals by themselves.

By using a longer shutter speed on the camera, the water's
movement is emphasized. This is in the creek at Saint Peter's
Village.

This is the Norristown Transportation Center, where the SEPTA
(former Reading Railroad) trains arrive on the lower level and
the SEPTA (former Philadelphia & Western) high-speed
trolley cars arrive on the upper level. There is also a bus
station as part of the complex. The Pennsylvania Railroad's
Schuylkill Branch also used to pass through here, but this is
now a bicycle trail.

navigational beacon as a landmark denoting one end of the famous
"Boathouse Row."

During the warm weather, waterlilies bloom in abundance at Longwood Gardens.
The courtyard in which they are grown protects them from the wind, and the
plants can be taken inside the conservatories in wintertime. The gardens are
well worth the price of admission for anyone interested in flowers, trees or
plants. There is even a restaurant on the premises for those who want to spend
all day there.
