Sand Castles, 1997 | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

In 1997, I was back in Wildwood, N.J. building sand castles. One castle had a square plan with a narrow courtyard surrounded by four towers, but I had to remove all that sand from above, since I didn't tunnel through the base. The next day, I did cut through several doorways. One castle had a shell inside the sand, which I hit when carving away the side. In repairing this hole, I ended up with a tower that had an unstable cantilevered tower, but it stayed up (amazingly) for several hours. At least long enough for me to finish the castle and take my photographs! |
